Smooth communication
Communication can be a challenge.
Some people are expert hint-readers, others need the message lit up in neon lights. Avoiding the potholes of communication makes everything run smoothly - especially if you need to get someone’s attention. Phrases like: “We need to talk” will seldom spark enthusiasm with the person you’re trying to reach. Be smart about it and get your point through with less hassle.
Different issues requires different angles. In this week’s post you’ll get a few ideas on how to handle the daily dialogue with the different star signs. I’ll leave the romantic and frisky stuff till later… ;-)

Aries | 21 March - 20 April
The Essence: Make it snappy!
Life should run smoothly and efficiently. If these people can do something to speed things up or increase the overall energy, they probably will. However, this requires swiftness and optimism from you. Any hint of gloom, or sentences starting with a deep breath and a “Look…!” will make them uncomfortable.
Approach: “Can I have two quick seconds, please.” Don’t drag it out. Give it a slight sense of urgency. A swift request will usually result in a quick respond: “Yup”.
Taurus | 21 April - 20 May
The Essence: ‘Don’t push me.’
Giving the impression that the Taurus needs to do something, will make him or her look at you with suspicion. The “we need to talk” approach, will not work with these people. The Taurus people won’t be pushed into anything - not even listening if they don’t feel like it. Take a deep breath and guide them gently.
Approach: Asking for advice is a good angle. “What do you think I should do?” The Taurus will gladly help you out. Remember, these people are not really into gossip. A “Have you heard?!” will usually result in a “huh?”
Gemini | 21 May - 20 June
The Essence: Keep it simple.
Too many details, and you’ll have a very restless Gemini on your hands. Stick to the essence, make your point and get on with it. These are sharp people. They don’t need a thorough intro. They’ll pick up on your message quickly and give you their immediate opinion. If action is called for, be specific about it.
Approach: Slow talking is a no-no. Energy is important. Keep it positive and engaging. If you need to present a problem, be constructive about it. Discussing an issue with the Gemini without the intention of finding a solution, is a complete waste of time.
Cancer | 21 June - 22 July
The Essence: Appeal to my feelings.
…but whatever you do, don’t make these people feel bad! Sending the Cancer off on a guilt trip will result in nothing but hassle. The expression “rubbing someone the wrong way” must have been made with the Cancer in mind. Expecting to achieve something productive by provoking these people? Forget about it!
Approach: You are dealing with sensitive people. There is a right time and place - and mood, for everything. A romantic hint at the wrong time, will be brushed off. Try again in a different setting, and it will be embraced.
Leo | 23 July - 22 August
The Essence: Make it enjoyable
If you forget yourself and start the conversation with a problem, then it won’t take long before the Leo gets up and wanders back into the sunshine. Positive approach is essential. These are kind and generous people. Turn this to your advantage. Don’t close the door before you’ve had a chance to open it.
Approach: Put a smile on your face and they will greet you with open arms and enthusiasm. If a serious talk is required, make sure the Leo doesn’t feel judged or criticized in any way.
Virgo | 23 August - 22 September
The Essence: Stick to the point
Timing is everything. It could mean the difference between a Yes or a No. You need to fine tune your antennas and pick a moment when the Virgo is receptive - meaning: Not stressed. Time of day is also important. If you want positive results, avoid serious talks at night. Keep it productive.
Approach: Many Virgos are walking encyclopedias who know a lot about all sorts of things. The easiest way to make them open up is to ask them interesting and questions. Adding a bit of your own knowledge is a great plus.
Libra | 23 September - 22 October
The Essence: Appeal to my sense of harmony
No matter how provoked you’ll get, keep the temper under control. A flushed face will get you nowhere. Sometimes it seems like these people are holding back a little. They are not, they are simply weighing their options. Diplomacy is the language of the Libra, and they expect the same from you.
Approach: If you are restless by nature, then you need to be aware of your approach. There will be no quick decitions. If you need an answer, make sure to agree on a time or a date.
Scorpio | 23 October - 21 November
The Essence: Make it enthusiastic
Don’t think you can fool these people by putting on a show. The Scorpio is an expert in reading your body language - and sometimes even your mind. In order to communicate efficiently, you must avoid mixed signals. Make sure that your eyes, your body and your words are telling the same story.
The approach: There is so much going on inside the Scorpio that any cheerful approach will be embraced and appreciated. Positivity is a must. Enthusiasm is a close second. Steer away from worries and potential problems.
Sagittarius | 22 November - 21 December
The Essence: Take my advice
Very simple: If you don’t intend to follow advice from the Sagittarius, don’t ask for it! They don’t like wasting time on people who don’t pay attention. Sagittarians are quick and creative thinkers, and usually very good with words. Entering a discussion just for the fun of it? Sure! Be prepared for a few honest opinions…
Approach: If you’re sensitive, let them know. The Sagittarians don’t want to hurt people with their frankness and will appreciate you for drawing the line - even though it may be forgotten at times...
Capricorn | 22 December - 19 January
The Essence: Choose the right time
These people don’t fling their opinions around - at least not without thinking first. There will be a lot of thought activity going on before they enter a deep discussion. If you’ve got something on your mind, you’ll be smart to wait until the Capricorn is focused on you. Give them a teaser… something interesting to think about.
Approach: Capricorn wants to see the reason behind everything. A brainless la-dee-dah approach is a big turn-off. If you apply logic and smart thinking, you have these people’s attention!
Aquarius | 20 January - 18 February
The Essence: Don’t be too serious
If you approach these people about something related to yourself, you need to turn it into a broader picture. The more angles, the better. Keep in mind that discussions around feelings tend to be slightly distant and ‘matter of factly’. Not because they are insensitive, but simply because their feelings are channeled this way.
Approach: They are explorers of the mind - and the world. Turn things around to see how it looks from a different angle, and you have the Aquarius’ attention. Make sure to hold on to the focus - especially if you are dealing with something specific.
Pisces | 19 February - 20 March
The Essence: Be sincere
Take note: These people do not handle criticism very well - at all. If you want to get a point through, you really need to apply your super-diplomatic skills. Other than that, no problem. They will talk about anything, any time. Need advice or some help? The Pisces are ready to guide and assist you.
Approach: Communicating with a Pisces is easy. They love expanding their minds. They are flexible, understanding and curious. You can toss anything at them, and you will have a good conversation - provided you don’t criticize them…
